Splender of Life
Poem about Jen's experience as a bereaved mother.
The twinkle of a star in the blink of their eyes.
The rays of the sun in the corner of their smiles.
We lay down in the grass to look up at the sky.
Their small soft hands in mine remind me how fast time flies.
We watch the birds, butterflies, and insects fly by and I marvel at their inquisitive minds.
I wonder to myself “When did I lose this connection to the splendor of life?”
The cosmos, stardust, and elements of life are all contained in their innocence.
